Scott Simpson as Himself ... Fresh off his portrayal of Evan Steven in the critically acclaimed The Noises Rest, Simpson was the last to join the cast of Fireball. It took repeated pleading from the producers to get him to play the part he was literally born to play—himself. In spite of that, Simpson had a difficult time getting into character, a challenge he overcame by lengthily communing with a house cat and a bottle of Jim Beam. 
Merlin Mann as Himself ... Renowned synergizer and award-winning blue-sky solutioneer Merlin Mann needed little prompting to come onboard the project. As Gruber's most memorable foil, Mann expressed his desire to "take that blogger down and mop him around." He later apologized for the inadvertent rhyme and apparent nonsensical comment, but stood by the general gist of the sentiment. 
John Moltz as Himself ... A writer and humorist, Moltz was a close confederate of Gruber's until, on a late night Denny's run, he confessed that he had long been a fan of Comic Sans. Gruber, disgusted, vowed never to having anything more to do with him. Unemployed and unable to provide socks for his family, Moltz accepted the producers' offer to play himself, on the condition that he been given earplugs for all scenes involving typefaces.
Adam Lisagor as Stanley Kubrick ... Try as they may, the producers could inexplicably not get Kubrick himself to sign on to the film. Stymied, they turned to Lisagor, the world's foremost Kubrick impersonator, whose one-man off-Broadway show, CRM114: The Life and Times of Stanley Kubrick, had won rave reviews from many websites. A collection of his short works, The Loneliest Sandwich, is due out this summer.
